aUGMENTED REALITY
Augmented Reality (AR) essentially combines both real-world components with computer-generated elements so that users can get an interactive 3D experience. AR specifically uses real objects in real time and generates graphics on top of that to add layers of information to the user to increase both performance and engagement. These virtual graphics are able to improve depth, perspective, and other characteristics of an environment for the user. Learn more here and below!
Here are some of the fun things you can do with AR:
- Use applications to place furniture and try on clothing before you buy
- Using an application, like Walmart's, to check and scan prices
- Using a heads-up display (HUD) in car's windshield to provide navigation information
- Scannable QR codes and barcodes that provides additional content (like a menu for a restaurant)
- AR goggles for entertainment and gaming purposes

"I do think that a significant portion of the population of developed countries, and eventually all countries, will have AR experiences every day, almost like eating three meals a day. It will become that much a part of you."
- Tim Cook
